I have been involved with Heart Kids Canterbury ever since my granddaughter was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition 17 years ago.

What is your touching moment?

My granddaughter’s condition is for life so that is my motivation, as long as I am able.

I would say to anyone considering a committee position: the satisfaction of helping someone through this time is well worth the effort and time spent.

Once committed I give 100% of my available time and effort. As a volunteer committee member, it takes a certain amount of commitment to meet the deadlines. I have never been surprised by anything Heart Kids has asked me to undertake, but approach each task with the same commitment I gave my employers when I was working.
