BIeNNIAL NATIONAL VOLUNTEERING CONFERENCE - raising the Bar

Volunteering NZ's 2011 conference will be held in Wellington on 23 and 24 May 2011. It will be followed in the same week by the Australasian Advanced Volunteer Management Retreat which is organised each year by Andy Fryar and Martin J Cowling.

This will be a most significant year - it will be the 10th anniversary year since VNZ was established and internationally it will be marked as International Year of the Volunteer plus 10 - a year to reflect on what has been achieved for the development of volunteering in the past decade.

The Rugby World Cup to take place in September and October 2011 will involve a major volunteer programme which potentially could benefit all volunteering in New Zealand.

On eof the mail themes of the Conference will be Events and Episodic Volunteering. The other will focus on Volunteer Management and the work which is currently being led by the VNZ working group on Managers of Volunteers Professional Development. The Conference Planning group is well into its work and progress will be reported in future issues of VNZ Update. The invitation for abstracts was sent out and the deadline is 17 September 2010.
